Capsula — a single column of alabaster, lit from inside. The stone is turned into a slim capsule, rounded at the base, and capped at the top with a machined aluminium collar. That is the entire fixture: no shade, no diffuser, no visible hardware below the cap. Just stone and light.
Alabaster is translucent, so the light does not sit on the surface — it travels through the stone, picking up the veining as it goes. Lit, the capsule glows from within like a piece of backlit marble, the grain showing dark against the warm core. Unlit, it reads as a pale polished stone column. Every piece is cut from natural material, so the veining, the cloudiness, and the pattern of warm and pale zones differ in every single one.
Narrow is the point
-
Only 2.4 inches wide. This fits where a conventional pendant cannot — a tight bedside, a narrow island, the gap beside a mirror, a run down a stairwell.
-
Genuine alabaster, not resin. Real translucent stone with its own veining, lit from within. No two are identical, and no two will match each other exactly.
-
Machined aluminium cap. A clean turned collar in sand nickel or black, the only hardware on the piece.
-
Built for multiples. At this width you can run three or five in a line over an island without the ceiling looking crowded — which is how the fixture is designed to be used.
Two finishes
Sand Nickel is an electroplated satin grey — cool, soft, and closest in tone to the pale stone itself, so the cap almost disappears into the capsule. Black is a coated matte finish that gives a hard dark terminal to the column, making the alabaster read brighter by contrast. Nickel for subtlety; black for graphic punctuation.

Where to hang it
A pair flanking a bed, hung low in place of nightstand lamps, clears the surface entirely and puts a soft glow at shoulder height. A row of three or five over a kitchen island, spaced 14 to 20 inches apart — closer than you would space a normal pendant, because each one is so narrow. A cluster at staggered heights in a stairwell. Or a single one over a console or in a powder room, where the stone is close enough to read.
Keep the base of the capsule 30 to 36 inches above a counter, or at roughly seated shoulder height beside a bed. Because the stone is the light source, hang it where people will be near it — the veining is the whole point and it is invisible from across a large room.
Frequently asked questions
How big is the Capsula and what does it cost?
2.4 inches in diameter and 12.2 inches tall (60 x 310 mm), not counting the suspension. $490 USD in either finish.
Is the alabaster real stone?
Yes. Each capsule is cut from natural alabaster, a translucent stone that carries light through its own veining. Because it is a natural material, the colour, cloudiness, and grain vary from piece to piece — yours will not be an exact match for the photograph, and two hung side by side will not match each other. That variation is the material, not a defect.
What finishes are available?
Two: Sand Nickel, an electroplated satin grey, and Black, a coated matte. The alabaster is the same natural stone in both; only the aluminium cap changes.
What bulb does it take?
An E14 small screw-base bulb. E14 is smaller than the E26 and E27 bases common in North America; in the United States, E12 candelabra bulbs are the closest widely stocked equivalent, and we can confirm fit for your installation. Choose 2700K warm white — alabaster's warmth disappears under cool white light.
Can I hang several together?
Yes, and it is the best use of this fixture. At only 2.4 inches wide you can run three or five in a line over an island, spaced 14 to 20 inches apart — much closer than a conventional pendant. Each needs its own ceiling outlet unless they are mounted from a shared linear canopy.
Will they all look the same if I buy several?
No. Each capsule is cut from natural stone, so a row of them will show different veining from piece to piece. Most people hang them together precisely for that reason, but if you want closely matched pieces, tell us when you order and we will do our best to select them.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends on the bulb. A dimmable LED on a compatible wall dimmer will dim — and it is worth doing, because at low levels the veining in the stone becomes far more visible.
How do I clean alabaster?
Dust with a dry, soft cloth only. Never use water, vinegar, or household cleaners — alabaster is porous and acid-sensitive, and liquid cleaners will leave permanent marks.
Can it be used in a bathroom or outdoors?
It is an indoor fixture. Alabaster is a porous natural stone that stains and degrades in damp conditions, so keep it away from direct shower exposure and any outdoor or covered exterior location.
