Méduse — a dome of Spanish alabaster, held on two strands of turned brass. The shade is cut from solid stone, not resin or glass, so when the lamps come on it does not simply glow — the veining inside the stone surfaces as soft clouds of cream and honey across the dome. Off, it reads as a carved piece of pale marble. On, it becomes the warmest light in the room.
Beneath it, two slender brass stems are turned into a rhythm of beads and fine ribbing, falling well below the shade like a pair of tassels. It is the detail that makes the piece: a sconce that looks finished from across the room and rewards a closer look.
Why it is worth the wall
-
Real Spanish alabaster. Every shade is cut from a different block, so the cloud pattern on yours is one of one. No two Méduse sconces are identical — that is the point of natural stone.
-
Solid brass, hand-finished. The round backplate, arms and beaded stems are brass with a warm aged finish that sits naturally beside stone, walnut, plaster and linen.
-
Light that flatters. Two lamps sit inside the dome, so light passes through the stone and washes softly up and down the wall — no glare, no hard shadows on faces.
-
Compact projection. At just 5.9" from the wall it works in hallways, beside a bed, or flanking a vanity mirror without crowding the space.
-
Bulbs included. Ready to install and switch on.
Where it belongs
Use a pair either side of a bathroom or powder-room mirror, either side of a bed in place of table lamps, or in a run along a hallway or stair. It is sized for intimate spaces — a single sconce comfortably lights a powder room, a reading corner or an entry niche.

A note on natural stone: alabaster is a natural material. Veining, colour and translucency vary from shade to shade, and every piece will differ from the photographs. If you would like a lighter or more heavily veined shade, contact us before ordering and we will do our best to match your preference.
Frequently asked questions
Is the shade real alabaster?
Yes. It is solid Spanish alabaster, carved from stone — not resin, acrylic or glass made to look like it. You can tell the moment it is lit: the internal veining appears only when light passes through the stone.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
Yes, beside a vanity mirror or in a powder room, away from direct water. It is not intended for installation inside a shower enclosure or anywhere it may be splashed.
Is it dimmable?
The fixture has no built-in dimmer, so it depends on the bulbs. Dimmable G9 bulbs on a compatible wall dimmer will dim — and at low levels the alabaster takes on a deeper, amber glow.
How high should I mount it?
Beside a mirror, place the center of the shade roughly at eye level, about 60–66 inches from the floor. Beside a bed, about 50–60 inches. In a hallway, keep it around 66 inches and space a run 6–8 feet apart.
How do I care for the alabaster?
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone, so avoid water, sprays and chemical cleaners on the shade.
